Chocolate Sauce

September 11, 2008 by Monica Nelson Leave a Comment

I know what you are thinking…Make your own chocolate sauce? Of course I make my own chocolate sauce!  Have you seen the crap in some of these store bought bottles, no thanks when I have this scrumptious sauce. 🙂

We all know I am for chocolate- YES, I BELEIVE IN CHOCOALTE!  the only rule- GOOD QUALITY CHOCOLATE. So please enjoy this,  it is lightened a lil bit so no guilt applies here. Also, I have a Mexican Chocolate Variation below.  Also check out my Dark Chocolate Sauce.  Enjoy~

Makes 8 tbs

1/2 cup 2% milk or soy
3 tbs sugar or sugar sub
1 tbs unsweetened cocoa
dash of salt
1/4 cup 60% cacao chocolate chips
1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a small saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring constantly with a whisk. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate chips; let stand 1 minute.

2. Cook over medium heat 1 min or until sauce is smooth and thickened, stirring constantly. Remove pan from heat; stir in vanilla.

MEXICAN CHOCOLATE VARIATION:
Add 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon to milk mixture. Add 1 tsp instant espresso granules with chocolate chips.
