Signs You’re Not Eating Well

April 14, 2023 by Monica Nelson Leave a Comment

When you start a diet, you are making a conscious effort to eat better and choose better options for your meals. When you’re not on a diet, it can actually be quite difficult to determine whether you are eating well enough. You might think you are because you’re eating what you want when you want, but that doesn’t equal a well structured diet. If you don’t eat well enough, you can actually harm your health in many ways.

Without having enough protein or enough vitamins in your diet, you could be facing hair loss or breaking out in skin issues. If you’re not paying attention to what you’re eating, that szechuan chicken recipe that’s been sitting on the side is going to go by the wayside in favor of easier meals that you can just walk into the microwave. It can also make you feel tired all day long if you’re not eating well. This is something that you want to avoid. So that you can tell whether you are eating enough for your body, here are some other signs and symptoms that you are not eating well or enough.

  • You are fatigued. If you’ve been low in energy for a while, it can indicate that you are not eating well enough. This can happen when you inhibit yourself from getting those healthy fats, protein and those essential nutrients in your diet. You feel sluggish and sleepy, and you notice that mid afternoon your whole body just seems to crash. The dizziness that comes with that also comes with the low blood pressure that works as an aftereffect of the fatigue. Instead of feeling horrible and off balance, you need to figure that out and start eating better to stop that from happening.

  • You might notice hair loss. Losing hair can be quite distressing. It’s easy to experience this if you are not eating enough protein in your diet, and you are missing those essential fatty acids and minerals. You can avoid this happening by ensuring that your diet is rich in vitamins, and you can stop letting your eating habits mess with your hair. Nobody wants to go bald just because they’re not eating the right amount of nutrients in their diet.

  • You are constantly hungry. A good sign that you have a bad diet is that you have a constant hollow feeling in your stomach. If you’re grazing on snacks, then you are not eating foods that are dense enough to maintain your appetite. A drastic calorie restriction can lead to constant feelings of hunger, and that can be painful. You need to switch your diet so that you are eating enough protein and nutrient dense food to make it worthwhile.

  • You are not sleeping well. Sleep deprivation is very much linked to mental health issues. It’s also linked to weight gain because if you’re not sleeping well, you likely eat to keep your sugar intake and your energy levels up. This can make you feel worse in yourself which leads to a cycle of binge eating and purging. Your eating habits have a huge impact on your sleeping cycle so you need to get used to these and ensure that you are eating better.
