If you are like me and you love a dish that is savory, a little sweet but then has a spice in the background making you want to come back for more and more, then this is the mouth-watering recipe for you!
As you may have noticed, I have been having a blast creating some delicious recipes using Miller’s Banana Pepper Sauces. They were nice enough to send me some bottles along with this fantastic apron for a recipe contest! Check my other recipes here too using their sauces: Easy Sweet n’ Spicy Hawaiian Style Mini Pizzas and Anything But Bland Broccoli Pesto.
Unlike most pepper sauces, they only use vine-ripened peppers picked at the peak of freshness. Think a mix of mature banana and habanero peppers processed from scratch and mixed with a special blend of mustard seeds and spices to create a sweet and spicy superior flavor. Then what also excites me is the ingredients are simple and high quality, no junk.
The key here today is using Miller’s Habanero flavor. When the goat cheese marries the habanero sauce, it creates the most unique filling! Then with the sweetness of the tomato you have the perfect balance of sweet, savory and spicy.
I then add a dash of panko bread crumbs, a hit of basil and off to the broil they go.
These are just sooo delicious. If you love goat cheese, you will absolutely want to make this. I love how simple this is and the presentation is fantastic. When entertaining, you can definitely feel confident making this recipe for guests. This makes for a great side dish, appetizer or a healthy game day too.
GOAT CHEESE STUFFED TOMATOES WITH A KICK
Makes 6-8 Small Stuffed Tomatoes
Ingredients:
- 6-8 small/med size tomatoes,
- 4-6 ounces goat cheese, (you may need more to fill the tomatoes)
- 1-2 tbsp Miller’s Banana Pepper Sauce – Habanero
- 2 tbsp panko crumbs or gf bread crumbs
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1-2 tbsp torn fresh basil leaves
- kosher salt and ground black pepper to taste
Directions:
- Preheat the oven broiler.
- Slice the tops off of the tomatoes and hollow out by removing the seeds. I like to use a melon ball scoop.
- In a bowl, mix the goat cheese and pepper sauce. (This is when you may need to add the extra cheese and sauce to make the spread fuller if it is needed.) Spoon an equal amount of the cheese mixture into each hollowed out tomato. Place stuffed tomatoes upright in a baking dish or cooking sheet. Top each tomato evenly with the bread crumbs and torn basil. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Place under broiler for 5 to 10 minutes until bread crumbs are lightly browned. Enjoy!
Note: This is best served immediately. You can also make all the ingredients ahead and broil just before your guests come.
