Are you thinking about holding a dinner party for some of your closest friends and family members? If so, you may be on the lookout for meals that are quick, easy, and delicious that you can serve. There are plenty of starters, mains, and desserts that you can cook ahead of time so you don’t have to be slaving away in the kitchen while your guests entertain themselves. Take a look at the article below for some inspiration.
Prawn Cocktail
This doesn’t take long at all to prepare and will amaze your guests as well as wet their appetites for the main dish. A prawn cocktail has been popular in households since the 70s and it is still being made as part of dinner parties. All it takes for a wonderful prawn cocktail is some lettuce layered at the bottom of a dish or on a plate, then scattering the prawns on top. Add some thousand island dressing or put this in a separate dish so guests can help themselves.
Cheesy Garlic Bread
Another wonderful starter is cheesy garlic bread. This can be made and ready to serve within minutes. Make sure you find a great garlic butter recipe otherwise it won’t taste right with the cheese on top. This can be grilled or baked in the oven until it is cooked to perfection and the cheese has just the right amount of time to melt.
Veggie Bake
If some of your guests are vegetarian or vegan then how about thinking of something you can serve that will satisfy them? A veggie bake is layered with deliciously seasoned vegetables, seasonal ones are best. It can be tricky to get the right consistency with vegetarian-friendly meals as you don’t want soggy veg. If you have never served or cooked this dish before, maybe try it out beforehand. You can also think about a veggie lasagne that uses aubergine instead of mince.
BBQ
If the weather is not so bad then you could treat your guests to a BBQ. These are brilliant get-togethers and you could even use disposable plates to save on the washing up! You will need to decide which meats you are going to serve beforehand and maybe get these in so they don’t sell out. Then on the day, whack everything on the BBQ and wait for your guests to be in awe of your wonderful chef skills. You can serve plenty of side dishes at a BBQ, for instance, potato salad or a delicious 7 layer bean dip.
Lamb Shank
Finally, this dish is wonderful and when done right it tastes like a small chunk of heaven in your mouth. Lamb shank is commonly served with mashed potato and some form of vegetables such as carrots. It can be tricky to get this right, but once you have mastered it there will be no going back. You can cook your lamb shank in the evening by throwing them in the oven with some garnish and veg. Alternatively, you could slow-cook them for a few hours during the day. This guarantees that they are succulent and melt in the mouth.
