After my awesome 4th of July, (it was so fun!)... I am not feeling super great today, what can I say. I feel like I really need to bring my acid levels down. It must be all that strawberry shortcake, adult beverages, and gelato ice cream that I had all day that got me feeling so acidic. Hmmmm, Do you think!? I have no regret though, as I take full advantage of having a good meal and having a good time as I know I will always get back on track . 🙂 I have the solution, so no worries. Normally, one does not think of cantaloupe as the "go-to" fruit to make a smoothie with. Well, this is your time to be adventurous. 🙂 What happened, is I basically bought too many cantaloupe and if you know me, I DO NOT let anything go to waste. Considering cantaloupe is in season right now, you will see it everywhere, so give this a try! Not too long ago, I remembered seeing a cantaloupe smoothie out at a cafe and I knew I could make one too. This is so refreshing and ginger is sooooo good for you. The combination is great together. You may find you need to sweeten yours, if so, I would add a few tbs of your choice of sweetener. Enjoy!
- 20 or so ice cubes
- 2 cups cubed cantaloupe (about 1/2 melon)
- 6 oz fat-free or low-fat yogurt, I use Greek Style
- 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1-3 tbs sweetener, (optional)
- Combine ice cubes, cantaloupe, yogurt, and ginger in a blender and puree until smooth. Taste and add sweetener if you need it. YUM!
